Absolutely horrific experience. I have been going to NYP for years for care and was referred to Mr. Peters by another practitioner who I highly recommend. I called over a week before my appointment and informed the front desk that I needed a new general practitioner and that I had disability accommodation paperwork that needed to be completed before Feb 1st. I let them know I had my medical records from my previous doctor and that I had records in the system. I told them I needed access to the portal to upload the forms from my employer. They never gave it to me. When I arrived I emailed the documents to them and they printed them out. I still did not have access to the portal which I requested in person. Michael Peters said he "was blindsided" by the form request because they were not printed out before I arrived. I asked him if he had been hit by a car because that's why I needed the disability accommodation. I provided the police report. The 7 question form from my employer and letters from my therapist and physical therapist. I told him I had my medical file from my previous doctor but no access to the portal. His front desk asked me to fax them - 52 pages. He left me to see another patient while the forms were printed out and said he would speak to me after. I gave the paperwork I mentioned above to the office manager and she came back and said they weren't good enough. I said I want to speak to Michael Peters. She brings him to the room and stays. He repeats that the police report and letters from my therapist and physical therapist aren't good enough because they are not medical records. I repeat that I don't have access to the portal to upload them. He said if the file is pulled for review he will "get in trouble". He treated me like a criminal and with suspicion. He never asked me how I was doing that day or about my injuries. He was condescending and robotic. I had to ask the office manager why she was in the room while I was talking to the doctor and she said loudly "Do you want me to leave?" I said I don't know why you are here or why a witness is necessary for a routine doctor appointment. I finally said I feel overwhelmed and unsafe. I left in tears after 1 hr and 10 minutes and went to my other provider. His front desk added Michael Peters to my patient team in 10 seconds. She said my medical history for years was able to be viewed and she added my last doctors file to the system. This took less than 10 minutes. She also messaged Michael Peters office to let them know everything was available. I sent a thank you email to her supervisor last week- her name is Krystal and she was wonderful. I went back to Michael Peters office and told them what Krystal did and they have everything. The from desk apologized for my experience and said they would call me when the paperwork was ready. I said maybe you can call me to let me know if he's actually going to do. She said of course. As I was leaving I heard the office manager say "he's not going to do it" I kept walking. I made an appointment with One Medical on Friday for Monday and brought the exact same paperwork in. They connected me to the portal and I uploaded my documentation. I received my paperwork two days later and was able to meet the deadline to protect my disability accommodation which was in place until 2/1. Had I waited for Michael Peters I would have had no protection. He did not care. He was unprofessional. His office manager did not care and she was unprofessional. She told me he sees 20 patients a day- then maybe he shouldn't take on new patients if he's too busy to provide basic care. His office did not deserve the $20 co-pay much less the right to bill my insurance. No one should be treated this way under any circumstances. I hope when his team and their family need medical care that they encounter people like themselves.

He is an amazing person very reasonable and able to tell you the truth without being rude. It is amazing to have him as my father, he understands and cares for his family making sure they are well fed, warm and clean.
