I found this therapist on a site where they had volunteered their services to recently laid-off federal employees. I appreciated the gesture and reached out, hoping for support during a difficult transition. After several communications to confirm an appointment, the therapist ultimately failed to show up for our scheduled session — with no notice, no follow-up, and no apology.This experience was not only unprofessional, it was harmful. Offering free services to people in crisis is a generous act — but only if followed through with care and accountability. To extend that kind of offer and then disappear sends the wrong message to individuals who may already be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsupported.I hope this feedback encourages more mindful engagement, especially when working with vulnerable populations seeking help in good faith.
