Having a positive experience in the past, I was surprised by how different my recent visit felt. At my appointment, I repeatedly explained that I transitioned to state insurance and specifically needed referrals and support from providers who accepted my insurance. Despite communicating this, I was ultimately referred to a psychiatric provider who was not in-network.When this issue resulted in the cancellation of my appointment, the response I received was simply, “ah sorry.” I was left to navigate the situation on my own.Additionally, what stood out most was the contrast in care. During a previous visit when I was covered under a private insurance plan, I felt listened to and supported. During my recent appointment, I felt dismissed. The interaction came across as condescending and unprofessional, and I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously.Patients navigating insurance changes are often looking for guidance and support. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
