My husband recently had prostate surgery and developed a persistent fever for three days, followed by a rash. After an ER visit found no clear cause, we contacted the urology office and were told someone would speak with the surgeon and call us back. No one ever did.When my husband called the after-hours line, he explained he still had a fever, had developed a rash, and was concerned one of his new medications might be causing the reaction. The provider (Eric Gourley) sounded annoyed from the start and offered no meaningful guidance. His response was, 'I am not a medicine doctor. I don't know. I don't do fevers.'Whether he knew the answer wasn't the issue. The issue was the lack of concern and professionalism toward a post-surgical patient with an ongoing fever and new rash. We were simply looking for help and communication. Instead, we felt completely dismissed. There ARE good surgeons and doctors who care and communicate well. Research your options.
