Dr. Vishal Kochar, MD

Dr Kochar is an excellent provider. He listens to patient's concerns, explains information clearly and makes sure you have handwritten instructions before leaving his office. I would definitely recommend his services.

I unfortunately feel compelled to leave a negative review for Dr. Kochar and his office, something I rarely do in general. I am a new patient, attempting to establish primary care. The process takes time to research physicians, calls to figure out who’s in network, and time to set up MyChart profiles just to get in the queue. Like many physicians, Dr Kochar books 3-4+ months out in advance. I waited patiently for the appointment, proactively confirmed my appointment and filled out paperwork online to save time downstream. Unfortunately, I was no more than 10 minutes late for my appointment slot, despite traffic ETA forecasting me to arrive on time. They marked me as a no show, and he refused to see me when asked by his staff because he was already behind for the day. On top of that, the staff informed me that he is moving soon, so I can’t even re-book with him in the future. Yes, it is on me that I was late for the appointment, I own that. However, there are do-betters on his part & his office’s part: 1. His cancellation policy is inflexible and out of touch with the realities of the time it takes to get an appointment booked. I would have gladly waited if asked, or he could have cut our time together short if he was that squeezed. Like everyone else, I’m a busy working professional too who took time off and invested time into the appointment, yet he was unwilling to pivot slightly on his end. 2. If slightly late arrivals are grounds for outright cancellations and 3 month+ waiting penalties, then that should be more effectively communicated. 3. If he knew he was moving, his office should have called prospective new patients proactively to confirm if they even wanted to meet with him, to save months of time. I could have found someone else and gotten in the queue sooner. I’m sure that Dr. Kochar is an exceptionally qualified individual, balancing the demands of many patients. But this experience leaves a bitter taste. I hope that he and his office can become more flexible, understanding, and communicative - as these are qualities everyone would want in someone they entrust to look after their health.
