Timely refills have been a recurring issue, regardless of medical urgency. I’ve lost count of how many times my pharmacy requests were overlooked, resulting in me having to follow up repeatedly to ensure prescriptions were sent. Communication with the front office is inconsistent—some staff are courteous, while others are surprisingly unprofessional. Despite always striving to be polite and understanding, especially knowing how demanding the healthcare field can be, my patience has been tested too many times. The tipping point for me came when I was denied a refill for a long-standing prescription for beta blockers used to manage a heart arrhythmia. I was told the medication would not be refilled unless I scheduled and paid for an in-office visit—despite this being a continuation of a treatment plan established prior to seeing Dr. Hernandez. I received a call from David, the office manager, who was not only dismissive but also confrontational, stating that it would be "malpractice" to refill without an appointment. This stance contradicts my experiences with other providers, who have not required mid-year visits outside of standard annual or semi-annual checkups for such routine refills. While the office appears to work closely with Medicare and Medicaid, I have private insurance and felt my care may have been deprioritized. I would advise caution when considering this practice, especially for older patients or those requiring regular medication management.
