Dr. Stanley Dennison, MD

I started going to APC Brandon in January 2023 for my chronic pain. I was seeing Alexander F, with no complaints. He was an Amazing 5 star doctor. I was sad when he said he was moving up North. I started seeing Geoffrey J in June 2024. Because he was in the same Brandon office I stayed with APC and he was a 4 star doctor. In February 2025, I was told I needed to see Stanley D in the Tampa office; I don't know why. I did not request to see him but was told I had to go just one time and then I could go back to the Brandon office seeing Geoffrey. I tried to get out of going because it was a huge inconvenience since my car was broken and his office was an hour away. A friend took me, which was a huge inconvenience. When I arrived the waiting room was empty. Brandon was always packed and many patients had to stand. Since I was the only patient I should be in-and-out within 10-15 minutes. Wrong! After 20 minutes I was finally called back. I waited another 30 minutes...rediculous! Dr. Dennison finally came in and that's when the nightmare began. He interrogated me like a drill sergeant "What is your pain level? What type of pain do you have, aching, stabbing, burning, cramping, throbbing?" I was confused, so he rattled off "come on, what is your pain, aching, stabbing, burning, cramping, throbbing?" The next words left me speechless "you don't have fibromyalgia!" I was stunned! Again he barked, "You don't have fibromyalgia! I know because I have been an anesthesiologist for over 20 years." I wish I had the courage to say "So what! You may practice medicine, but that does NOT make you a doctor!" He was the most unsympathetic, arrogant 'so-called' doctor I have ever met! Unfortunately, he wanted to see me in 2 weeks and ordered me to do physical therapy; although I said that it made my pain worse. He didn't care and said i had to do it. Because he accused me of lying I decided to bring my husband to the next appointment. To prove that I suffered from chronic fibromyalgia, the day before my appointment I skipped 2 doses of pain medicine. I woke up at 5:00 a.m. with excruciating pain! I was crying and knew I couldn't wait 5-6 hours until my appointment. To document my pain, I took videos of myself crying and explaining how bad I felt and how much pain I was in. I took pain AND anxiety meds; something I hadn't needed to do in 6 months. My husband and I arrived to an empty waiting room and waited a long time. When he came in he sarcastically said to my husband, "oh a new patient". He questioned who he was and why he was there. My husband said he was my healthcare advocate. He interrogated my husband on things that had nothing to do with me. When he turned to me I asked why he accused me of not having fibromyalgia? He said I didn't have the classic signs. I showed him the videos I had taken that morning. He viewed but dismissed them and asked if I started the physical therapy. I said my insurance just approved it so I had not started. He prescribed some medicine I had neither heard of nor did he explain what it was for and said, "I want you back next week." Note: I don't recall if it was in 1 or 2 weeks before I had to return. My husband questioned why I couldn't go to the Brandon office? He snapped that he was evaluating me. I was already evaluated two years earlier so why did HE have to evaluate me again. My husband said I didn't want to see him and since the Brandon and Tampa offices were under the APC umbrella they could communicate about me on their messaging system. Stanley said, "This is what we are going to do, I will send you a letter and tell you where you are going to go." (I got his message loud and clear!) The following Tuesday, I got a Certified/Return Receipt Requested letter terminating the doctor/patient relationship. The best thing ever! I found a pain clinic close to my house. My opinion is, he is a hack! I am not the only patient he has treated unprofessionally or dropped with no explanation. If I could give zero stars I would have!
