I went in to discuss using a small tube inserted into my eardrums to help address blocked eustachian tubes. Without asking me if I was willing to have a nasal endoscopy for $380, he went out of the exam room and came back with the device, didn't say a word, other than asking me to sign a permission slip, i.e., he never said what he was going to do or why he thought this was necessary, and then looked up my nose - 1 minute max. This procedure cannot solve my issue and no ENT has ever done this before in attempting to assist me with the blockage. I could have told him, given my experience, that I didn't want this test, and I would have known if it would cost almost $380. Docs who don't engage in shared decision-making with patients should be avoided.
