Wow. After visiting this office, I genuinely felt like I needed to see a psychologist—because the staff truly tested my nerves. I have never experienced such rude and unprofessional behavior from medical staff in my life. Dr. Sandra Medina is a good doctor, but she seriously needs to send her staff and nurses to customer service training. I had an appointment on July 15 for my annual check-up. Prior to my visit, I specifically asked to be scheduled at 8:30 AM so I could be the first patient. The staff confirmed and scheduled me weeks in advance. However, when I arrived at the office, another woman walked in at the same time and simply entered the door before me—so they gave her my spot! When I explained that I had an appointment at 8:30, the front desk staff told me it didn’t matter because the other woman "came in first." I ended up waiting an additional 40 minutes, which made me late for my next meeting. Then came the billing issue. After the visit, I was charged $200 for lab tests. When I called the office, they told me my insurance had denied the claim. I called my insurance company, who explained that the lab test was coded incorrectly—as diagnostic instead of preventive—so it was not covered. When I asked the office about this error, the staff responded rudely, saying it was because I mentioned pain in my back and knees during the visit. Of course I answered truthfully when the doctor asked if I had any pain—what was I supposed to say? I requested they correct the coding and resubmit it to my insurance, but the response I received was shocking. The staff told me I was “speaking too loudly” and threatened to hang up—then actually did. I was stunned. I’ve filed disputes with both my insurance and bank, and I plan to continue investigating until the staff and nurses are held accountable for this behavior. After reading other reviews, I see that many patients have had similar issues at this office. Dr. Medina, if you truly care about your patients, please take action regarding your staff.
