I don’t leave negative reviews lightly, but my experience over the past year left me feeling unseen and unsafe. As a queer person of color with complex trauma and a recent suicide attempt, I needed trauma-informed, culturally aware care. I did not feel I received that.I was prescribed a medication with known difficult withdrawal effects without what felt like adequate discussion of long-term risk given my history. When I later raised concerns, I felt dismissed rather than supported.My past substance use was quickly framed as addiction without meaningful context, despite over a decade working as a bartender without prior issues. I felt labeled instead of understood, and defensiveness made honest dialogue difficult.Patients with complex trauma and marginalized identities deserve nuanced, collaborative care. I did not experience that here.
