Could not schedule until 3 months out to get eye exam appointment. I get to office to see Dr Reed, and Zoe at front desk said they had not verified my insurance, and that is my responsibility, not theirs. I did not want to pay $350 out of pocket with insurance; I said I would have verified it before I scheduled. They had me sit to side while I called insurance company. When I first called, they were checking people in and all I needed was the NPI number, but they couldn’t stop to give it to me. So after they dealt with all the patients, Zoe gave me NPI number, went to back to check with clinical supervisor, Di, and came back and said that I would have to reschedule. If she would have given me 1.5 minutes to make the phone call, I could have submitted the NPI number and have had an answer ASAP. Zoe told me it was a HIPPA violation to verify insurance, which is incorrect—I checked the latest HIPPA laws since I’ve never had this issue, and thought something must have changed.
