Dr. Melanie Orencia, MD

I was billed approximately $300 for a visit in which Melanie O. repeatedly said, "I don't know. I don't know what to tell you. I don't know how to help you." This was said before she even performed an examination of my son. I left the appointment feeling as though I had paid for a consultation that provided no meaningful evaluation, guidance, or plan of care. Based on my experience, Melanie O. came across as inexperienced and lacked the confidence or expertise to address our concerns. I later contacted the CHI Business Office to dispute the bill. The review process took more than five months. At the end of that process, I was informed that the final decision rested with the provider or their office—not with an independent third party. Unsurprisingly, they upheld the charge. Overall, the entire experience—from the appointment itself to the billing dispute—was disappointing and felt like a complete waste of both my time and money.
