Consult re: 20% loss hight for compression fracture. Given 16 page form to fill out. Called into exam office 90 minutes later. Medical staff said I had not written down time, place of previous microdiscectomy. I had written it in two different places. The consult lasted about 10 minutes. His message: if my pain gets too intense to tolerate, see him for fusion. I was referred to him for possible vertebroplasty by my PCP after MRI showed above fracture. The neurosurgeon said he does not do them due to the risk of leakage. 20% height loss of compression fracture (L-4) is considered Grade 1 -- moderate. I have since made an appointment with another neurosurgeon with fairly long wait time. Will see a PT in his network who will NOT be sports medicine PT, but experienced at working with spinal stabilization joined with bone fracture. Flying solo until then, I have relied on computer GI guidelines for restrictions on previously assigned PT for past microdiscectomy. Form your own conclusions
