Annual Physical was rushed and after waiting for more than 30 minutes I finally saw the physician who clearly hadn’t looked my chart prior to the exam. While medical service provided were less than desirable, the real kicker was the invoice I received from NYP even though my physical is covered 100%. I called billing and was told that because I had a question about a clogged ear, that made my physical also an office visit and billable. Really? I asked the billing department if during my physical I mentioned I have been having chest pains, would that immediately become an office visit? I was astonished when the answer came back, “yes”. It should also be noted that the NYP Billing and Patient Care personnel and resources are abysmal, it took months of repeated follow up just to reach this disappointing outcome.
