I was referred to Dr. Benes, following a lung cancer diagnosis. She was in charge of setting up a PET scan, which is CRITICAL in staging the cancer to start treatment. My appointment was on a Monday. The imaging company called me on Friday saying that Dr. Benes cancelled/retracted my referral with no reason. Of course she and anyone who could make this happen was out of the office and I had until the end of the day to get this fixed or no PET SCAN. Come to find out the reason for her shocking behavior was because I had sought a second opinion with an oncologist at a cancer support center and in bad taste, she did that. My oncologist, who I hadn’t even met with yet, literally begged her to fix the issue explaining that any unnecessary time lost to nonsense such as this, could mean a death sentence for someone who has cancer.
