How likely are you to recommend Dr. McGowen?
I had surgery the 24 of April and suffered severely with cramping and nerve pain in my leg. The doctor and his staff did not pay attention to what I was trying to tell them because it was affecting my progression and physical therapy this went on for probably a month. And needless to say a couple of months later I had to have a manipulation and the nerve pain was off the charts. If they would’ve been listening to me they would’ve put me with a pain management doctor before my manipulation because the manipulation made my pain even worse. I’m a very healthy woman I’ve never even taken medication for anything other than maybe an anabiotic I’ve worked out my whole life I eat right and I’m a young 65-year-old. After my manipulation I couldn’t do physical therapy effectively still with my range of motion though I continued with it diligently along with what I could do at home. I still was not getting the results I should be getting at that time with physical therapy I insisted on talking to the doctor the surgeon about the situation and we had a conversation and he did not offer me any options other than probably having to do another procedure. He did not check for infection he did not do a little bit of research with asking me questions about the pain I was dealing with after surgery nothing well I got a second opinion. And my second opinion doctor immediately checked me for infection and thankfully I did not have it and paid attention to what I was saying and realized that I had developed chronic regional pain syndrome after my surgery and that’s what caused The difficulty. I am now seven months out still going to physical therapy I was recommended dry needling which is helped quite a bit. Still doing my exercises at home and little by little my leg is getting straighter. Before I started the dry needling my measurement was 30 as far as how bent my leg is and now it’s down to 20 after four treatments. It’s completely affected my life I honestly was in pain standing up until maybe three weeks ago when I canceled my last appointment with Dr. McGowan nobody even called me and I was still under his care. His aftercare and his staff‘s aftercare were the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life. And because of his negligence my quality of life may never be the same because of how straight I will be able to get my leg overtime. He should’ve listened his staff should’ve listened and they should’ve put me in touch with a pain management doctor after my surgery and after my manipulation. And I can’t have another procedure because it will trigger my chronic regional pain syndrome again.
