Dr. Hratch Karamanoukian, MD

Dr. Karamoukian was very terse, condescending, and never even answered my question that I literally asked twice during my tense, brief time with him. He didn't even examine my leg which was appropriately exposed for him to evaluate. Told me I did not have DVT and to come back in 4 months (my cardiologist had ordered a doppler to be done because Dr. K's office couldn't see me for well over a month after my call that I had developed a hard, painful, discolored lump in a varicose vein, etc. The doppler showed no DVT, so it was ok for me to wait for my appointment many weeks later with Karamoukian). I went to a different practice one week later (someone recommended by my cardiologist upon hearing of my experience with Dr. K), where I had a completely different experience where a sonogram was done, things were explained to me, and my questions answered. I will be having a procedure next month. I conveyed my experience with Dr. K to them and while they were very sympathetic with their wide eyed, head shaking reaction – they did not seem surprised. Clearly, I am not the first person to have a very negative experience with him. The whole thing was very odd, because the first time I went to him for phlebitis a few years prior, he was cordial and joking. When it comes to medical care, I think finding a stable practitioner who is reliable in the care of his patients is essential. This appointment was a real head spinner and I’ve lost trust in his entire practice. Needless to say, I will not be going back to his practice which I found to be unacceptable.
