I had chronic compartment syndrome in all four compartments in both legs. Dr. Pena made it seem like having the fasciotomy done on all compartments would bring relief. He did not tell me about how the nerve issues could be just as bad as what I was experiencing with the compartment syndrome. He didn't tell me how the swelling would not go away-and that blood would be pooling in my legs and ankles. When I went back in and tried to get some relief/ideas of what to do next-his response was 'I am just the carpenter.' I didn't even know what that meant-I asked and he said I would have to see another type of Dr. I asked what kind of Dr? He didn't have an answer. He literally spent 3 minutes with me in that follow up. It is 5 1/2 years later and now I am dealing with venous insuffiency-side effect of the surgery. I cannot tell you with more certainty-see someone else for any leg issues.
