Dr. Elias Hyams, MD

Dr. Hyams, at Brown University, my doctor over seeing my prostate cancer diagnosis with a “wait and watch” approach and I listened. It was low grade for 4 years. I had two MRIs and 2 Biopsies in those 4 years. In September 2025, my PSA jumped from 7 to 9. Surprisingly, he said “Let’s continue to wait and watch it and do another biopsy in the Spring”. I told him that I was surprised that he doesn’t think I should get a biopsy then with this rising number. That winter I moved to NY, got a new urologist at NYU, did a PSA test, which was still 9. My doctor said, “this is alarming at 9 and in his experience, a PSA of 9 is time for a biopsy, MRI and most likely need treatment. After the MRI it was obvious that I should not have waited last year. I trusted Dr. Hyams, ignoring my instincts.Sadly, my cancer has grown significantly. I truly feel like Hyams did not care enough, never remembered me, even after treating me for 4 years. I regret his lack of care. Beware.
