I left both encounters with Dr. Jones feeling dismissed, frustrated, and deeply disappointed.When he performed my colonoscopy/EGD in April, he abruptly asked why I was there and tersely told me IBS wasn't a reason for a colonoscopy and that I could have to pay if I couldn't give him a “good reason.” I explained my symptoms and he said nothing before telling the team to sedate me.I returned August 11 for a GI consult. He spent roughly six minutes with me, barely asked about my symptoms, treatments, or how IBS affects my life, and seemed bored and uninterested. His approach felt intellectually lazy: rather than investigate, he made assumptions. He told me IBS was “all in your brain,” said it wasn't a disease, and told me, “Just find some CBT and you'll be alright.” Had he bothered to ask, he'd know I've done CBT for years.I also asked about persistent anemia and long-term omeprazole use. He immediately dismissed any connection without asking about my labs or history.
