I can’t express enough gratitude for Dr. David Grischkan and his incredible team. As a 35-year-old in decent shape with a strong naturalistic mindset, I was extremely hesitant about surgery. I had convinced myself that I could manage my double indirect inguinal hernias and the pain for the rest of my life. Things eventually got worse, the pain and swelling would come and go. Eventually I wasn’t even able to play with my kids or lift them, so I started to research surgeons. One thing I knew for certain—I did not want mesh. When I discovered Dr. Grischkan and his pure tissue repair technique, I knew I had found the right surgeon. His approach was as natural as possible, using my own tissue rather than introducing a foreign object into my body. After a long back and forth with myself, I decided to opt for the surgery. Leading up to surgery, I was nervous, but the entire staff made me feel at ease. When the time came, I walked back and laid down on the operating table. I received oxygen and anesthesia, and before I could even process what was happening, I was waking up—it was over in what felt like an instant. That was the most difficult part for me, just the anticipation of leading up to the surgery and it ended up being the easiest part! Unfortunately, I didn’t react well to the anesthesia and had to stay a few extra hours, but the nurses and staff were beyond amazing, providing exceptional care and support. The initial recovery was challenging as well.. I had significant swelling and it was difficult walking as much as the surgeon recommended. But now, 35 days post-op, I can confidently say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Dr. Grischkan is a master at what he does, and I would choose him again without hesitation.
