When I brought up my serious degenerative condition with a strong genetic component, I felt the response minimized its impact. Instead of exploring appropriate diagnostics or treatment options, the focus shifted to a medication I had previously used for unrelated symptoms. I left the appointment feeling unheard and unsupported. Patients dealing with complex or chronic conditions may want to consider other providers who take the time to listen and engage meaningfully.
