Dr. Benitez was my doctor for many years. At the time that I visited her, I was experiencing suicidal ideation and depression. When I confided in her about it to seek help, she let me know that having those feelings and thoughts was selfish and that it was not fair of me to have those feelings when there are kids that she treats that have cancer and want to live. She also scolded me and judged me for having premarital sex. She said, “Why are you having sex with people that you are not planning to marry?” Based on my experiences, I can not recommend her. I hope that since the time I visited her as a patient, she has gained some skills in empathy, active listening, and has had an overall improvement in her bedside manner.
