How likely are you to recommend Dr. Scully?
Saw Dr.Scully for seven months for acute maxillary osteomyelitis that became chronic under his care. He refused to diagnose me. Kept saying I should have my healthy teeth pulled out. 7 dentists confirmed there was no medical reason to extract teeth. He implied I had no infection because ESR and CRP were normal & that I needed a bone biopsy. Finally, I asked for a referral to Mayo Clinic. His 'referral' omitted the pathology report (serratia marcescens), 3 debridement surgeries, necrotic bone and sequestrum, sinus perforation, & symptoms responding to antibiotics 12x, and returning 12x when meds were stopped. He ensured no department at Mayo would see me. Finally found 2 doctors w experience treating the condition. Both independently diagnosed now-chronic maxillary osteomyelitis. They ordered tests Scully refused to order. Discussed treatments he never mentioned. Said ESR and CRP are normal when this condition is chronic & that bone biopsy is not useful.See someone else.
