Patient Reviews
Jun 05, 2026
I came to Dr. Helgerson hoping to get answers for my extremely painful periods as well as starting birth control. Instead I was gaslit, spoken to as if I were a child the entire time, and told that “all women experience these things.” I was not allowed to even tell her my other symptoms before she was rushing to discuss birth control with me, despite my attempts to bring the conversation back to it. Then, when I informed her that any form of pill contraceptives would not work due to a throat condition I have that makes swallowing difficult, she told me I needed to “grow up” and was too old for that. Quite ironic, considering how I was spoken to! I have never had such a demeaning and disappointing experience with a doctor before. I would never recommend anyone with genuine concerns about their reproductive health to go with Dr. Helgerson.
