I first went to see Dr. Rahman a few weeks after I'd broken a wrist and been put into a cast. I then saw her (or one of her associates) over the next few weeks, as my wrist continued to heel. While Dr. Rahman certainly struck me as very capable, most of the time I was seen by someone else (not Dr. Rahman, herself). Also, her colleague that I was typically seen by...I did not like her manner at all. Anytime I expressed concerns or asked questions (this was, after all, my first time ever, breaking a bone, and on my dominant hand)...I was made to feel as if I were being overly-worried...that perhaps I was 'high-maintenance' (wasting their time?)...and otherwise was not made to feel supported one iota. I was also bothered by the fact that Dr. Rahman's office did not propose another follow-up with them (after my cast was completely removed) until a full 4 weeks later. Thankfully, I decided to see a different doctor/orthopedic practice (that is very well reputed in NYC) and that doctor expressed great concern over the fact that my wrist/hand was still very swollen and immobile...immediately put me on meds to help reduce the swelling, and helped to jump start my recovery. If I had NOT seen that other doctor, I'm certain that my recovery would not have gone as well.

Dr. Rahman was my mother-in-law's post-op follow up doctor this year. Knowledgeable & precise interpreter of condition & progress. Fast speaker while having wits and charms to make my MIL who is not good in English feel comfortable. This doctor will not chat you up BS to make you feel like you are getting service when you are actually not. No nonsense, straight forward. Two thumbs up.

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams.
