Dr. Assar Rather, MD

Dr A. Rather was referred to establish fu care after an out-of-state move. I found him to be a good communicator and respectful. However, he kept pressing a favored cause regarding my dx based on no empirical information and pressed a need for me “to read about it” (and get invested in it?) as causal to my health condition, when the reality is there are multiple known and likelier potential causes. I was told by the scheduler that the initial visit would be a consultation. Only during the consultation, was I informed it would involve an anoscopy, for which I would have preferred instructions to prepare. I chose to reschedule the examination to allow for some minimal level of prep. I have since found another provider for fu care and cancelled the “exam” appointment with this provider, as I am not comfortable with his approach to examination or his clear causal biases, which together do not foster patient trust.
