'Dr. Ali,' as we called him, misread my mom's MRI scan. He incorrectly assumed that the pool of blood in her brain was an 'old injury.' My mom has no history of head injuries and has never before had any cognitive decreases. She was brought in to the hospital because she had a sudden inability to process time and make decisions and she was shuffling her feet. Dr. Ali ignored all of these recent symptoms and continued administering blood thinning medication to treat the heart attack that my mom also had. Even when my mom's nurse questioned whether blood thinners should be continued, Dr. Ali disregarded her opinion. The neurologist confirmed that Mom had indeed had a hemorrhagic stroke 'very recently.' The neurologist told us that, had the doctors been able to see Mom's MRI, they would have never started the blood thinners. Dr. Ali saw the MRI, and then administered blood thinners. We are very lucky that Dr. Ali's decisions did not worsen my mom's condition.
