I was admitted on March 31st to have open heart surgery and replace the aortic valve. Also was diagnosed with HCM, which required additional surgery time to thin the heart wall. Came through surgery well but with in twenty four hours went into complete heart failure. Spent five days on ECMO machine, keeping me alive. I have nothing but high praise for doctor Tharakan and the team at Hillcrest Heart Institute. I can say without any reservation "They saved my life". I am now nearly sixty days out and am doing great. Just started cardiac rehab, and thankfully I'm celebrating my 53rd wedding anniversary today. Now my goal is to get back on the golf course as soon as possible. Big thanks to the whole team at Hillcrest Heart Institute.
