I had a very disappointing experience with the weight management provider at NorthShore Health Centers.I drove about 35 minutes for my appointment and waited over an hour to be seen. Unfortunately, the visit itself was even more frustrating. Dr. Shah was dismissive and came across as condescending. Despite explaining my consistent efforts with diet, strength training, cardio, and even prior use of GLP-1 medication, I was told my weight challenges were purely behavioral.There was no meaningful discussion of potential underlying factors like hormones or metabolism, and no attempt to investigate further. Even when I explained that I regained weight despite maintaining healthy habits, that concern was dismissed.The guidance I did receive was inconsistent—at one point I was told medication wasn’t necessary, and later I was asked if I wanted to restart it and told it would be a lifelong commitment. No clear plan, referrals, or next steps were provided.
